American Airlines Spoof scam

A online purchase scam report, targeting a consumer in Cape May, NJ, USA - 08204 with a reported loss of $200.

Narrative evidence

What happened

I legitimately called American Airlines to purchase a ticket for a minor. In order to process payment, they required payment in two fees…I was charged $247 and had to “verify” payment through a charge authorization and then they charged me another $200 which I also had to authorize. When I checked my account, there was a charge from American for $247 with an actual ticket number and another $200 charge for TravelFee without a ticket number but it had the phone number. When I figured out it was a scam I called the phone number and they just answered “Reservations”. There’s an inside job happening at airline customer service companies which are likely overseas. After they process your legitimate travel needs, they’re tacking on extra fees and giving credit card information to a scammer company.
