What happened

An impersonation scam involving cryptocurrency was reported on 2 September 2026. Fake Binance support scam, 2026-09-02, France. Two phishing emails displaying sender do-not-reply@ses.binance.com: first email (11:26 CEST) claimed Binance services were closing in the EU and that an operator would call; second email (11:29 CEST) delivered a 12-word seed phrase presented as a wallet backup. A phone call from a French-speaking "Binance security" operator followed. Victim imported the scammer-supplied seed phrase and withdrew funds from Binance to it. An automated sweeper bot immediately moved all assets (BTC, BNB, AVAX, USDC) to the destination addresses listed. BTC transaction: 12cf5151e5bae678ec605d35f174a95149477921d5cdf7d5ee6d89f844a98ce6 (block 965150, 12:05:51 CEST). BTC funds still unspent at destination address as of 13:11 CEST. Total loss approx. 2,000 EUR. Police complaint being filed in France (THESEE).
