A fake airdrop scam report.

Narrative evidence

What happened

A fake airdrop scam involving cryptocurrency was reported against the website pay.boomfi.xyz on 8 September 2026. On 8 September 2026, I saw a BoomFi payment link shared through what appeared to be a trusted friend’s account. The post claimed that I could mint “Galactic Geckos #6932” for 2.5 SOL and immediately list it for 5.4 SOL on Magic Eden. Because the promotion appeared to come from someone I trusted and the payment was processed through a professional-looking BoomFi checkout page, I connected a Solana wallet and paid 2.5 SOL. The invoice was marked as “Paid,” and I received a payment confirmation, but no NFT was minted or transferred to my wallet. The blockchain transaction contains only a standard SOL transfer. It does not contain any NFT minting or NFT transfer instruction. The authentic Galactic Gecko #6932 remains owned by an unrelated wallet and was never transferred to me. My payment was initially sent to a payment-specific address and was then swept approximately 25 seconds later. Of the 2.5 SOL payment, 2.472592 SOL was transferred to the suspected settlement address GQiSyLJTn1RCGQpTNzhrPGxgyD8RHNJ7GNB6zHqBCkcR, and 0.026508 SOL was transferred to a separate address. The same suspected settlement address subsequently received another nearly identical settlement of approximately 2.472589 SOL from a different temporary payment address, indicating that at least one additional person may have paid through the same settlement flow. The friend whose account appeared to share the offer later confirmed that they did not create, post, or authorize the payment link. Their account appears to have been compromised or impersonated. I lost 2.5 SOL. At the time of my latest check, the suspected settlement address still held 4.945181 SOL and had no outgoing transactions. I have reported the incident to BoomFi and requested that the merchant account and payment link be suspended and that the funds be frozen or refunded. The actual controller of the settlement address—BoomFi or the merchant—has not yet been confirmed.
