A employment scam report, targeting a consumer in Westfield, IN, USA - 46074.

Narrative evidence

What happened

On September 10, 2026, I received an unsolicited email from Ben Schaeffer claiming that my application had been reviewed, although I had never applied. The message used the name Velocity Solutions Company and offered a full-time remote IT Support Specialist position at $40.97 per hour. The email process consisted only of a questionnaire. On September 15, I received an offer and letter, followed by SMS pressure the same day. The letter was signed as The IMA Group, while the emails referenced Velocity Solutions Company. The claimed company appears to be an impersonation mashup involving Velocity MSC of Holland, Ohio, and another company named Velocity. The scam promised an equipment reimbursement check before training for items including a MacBook Pro and Sennheiser HD 800 S headphones. The letter used PO Box 460939, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33346. No money was received or deposited, no check was signed, and no money was lost. The FTC report number is 207178445.
