Rise Up Youth Global scam
A charity scam report, targeting a consumer in Redmond, WA, USA - 98052 with a reported loss of $2,000.
Narrative evidence
What happened
Two young men stood outside Trader Joe’s with posters (attached) about Rise Up Youth Global and a table selling baked goods to raise money. I spoke to them briefly on my way inside, and stopped by after I finished my shopping to donate (not purchase anything). They showed me their poster but said the QR code didn’t work, and offered to take card. I asked to donate $25. They said the first transaction didn’t go through, so they charged me a second time. I didn’t get an email receipt, but checked my card and had been charged $1000 twice. I filed a police report and contacted my bank immediately.
